The University organizes full-time doctoral programmes in either tuition fee-paying or scholarship awarded forms.
Entry Requirements
- Completed master's studies with an overall result of min. 70%
- Appropriate knowledge of English
- Sufficient background knowledge in the field, proven by an online test
- Sufficient knowledge related to the selected research topic, proven at an oral inverview via Skype

The steps of the selection process at BME
- Pre-evaluation of the submitted documents
- All applicants need to write an online test
- Qualifying applicants should choose 1 to 3 research topics from the offered list
- Evaluation of the test results and the submitted documents by the selected supervisor(s)
- Applicants meeting the criteria should have an entrance interview on Skype
- Statement of commitment or refusal by the interviewing supervisor(s)
- Final decision by the doctoral school
Selection criteria
- Appropriacy and quality of the documents below (all are required):
- MSc transcript and degree (if already awarded)
- Language certificate: should be uploaded on time and should be appropriate
- Research plan / MSc thesis abstract (the latter one is preferred)
- Motivation letter
- Recommendation letters (reference from current or earlier teachers / employers)
- Performance on the entrance exam (written and oral)
- Oral language skills (the interview is in English)
- Motivation, attitude
- Technical competence in the selected research field
- The number of vacancies for the topic, and the overall capacity of the supervisor

EU citizens shall apply for a residence card at the competent regional directorate of the Office for Immigration and Nationality during their period of study (if longer than 90 days).
